Case Study of Ward Pharmacists Involved in the Management of ICU Patients
Objective To explore the strategies utilized by ward pharmacists in managing antimicrobial treatments for patients in the intensive care unit(ICU)and to analyze the role of ICU ward pharmacists,especially concerning the selection of antimicrobial treatment for ICU patients.Methods Based on inflammatory markers,microbiology reports,symptoms and hemodynamic parameters,ICU ward pharmacists made recommendations for antibiotics and antifungal drug regimens accordingly.This study collected insights from ICU clinical pharmacists gained through participation in daily antimicrobial therapy modifications during daily pharmaceutical monitoring on rounds.Results ICU ward pharmacists actively contributed to the management of antimicrobial treatment plans,preventing adverse reactions and promoting rational drug use.This proactive engagement can ensure the safety and effectiveness of patients'treatment regimens in the ICU.Conclusions The participation of ward pharmacists in the management of ICU patients can improve the rationality of drug regimens and ensure safety,and provide a theoretical basis for ward pharmacists to participate in the management of ICU patients.
