Effects of Lurasidone and Paliperidone on Cognitive Function and Lipid Metabolism in Patients with Schizophrenia
Objective To compare the clinical effects of lurasidone and paliperidone on cognitive function and lipid metabolism in patients with schizophrenia. Methods A total of 80 patients with schizophrenia admitted to Shangrao Third People's Hospital were enrolled between January 2021 and December 2022.According to random number table method, they were divided into group A(lurasidone)and group B(paliperidone),40 cases in each group. The clinical curative effect, symptoms severity[positive and negative symptom scale(PANSS)],cognitive function[Loewenstein occupational therapy cognitive assessment(LOTCA)],lipid metabolism indexes[triglyceride(TG),cholesterol(TC),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)]and occurrence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results The curative effect in group A was lower than that in group B(75.00%vs 95.00%,P<0.05).After treatment, scores of PANSS and LOTCA in group B were lower than those in group A(P<0.05).After treatment, there was no significant difference in LDL-C between the two groups(P>0.05),but TG,TC and HDL-C in group B were higher than those in group A(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion For patients with schizophrenia, paliperidone has better curative effect and symptoms improvement, while lurasidone has fewer effects on lipid metabolism and better cognitive function, safety of the two drugs is comparable.
