Cinnamaldehyde is a small molecule extracted from plants of the genus cinnamomum.This natural molecule possesses versatile functions(e.g.,antibacterial and disinfection)and has been widely used in food preservation and anti-corrosion.Recently,the pharmacological activities of cinnamaldehyde and its derivatives have been extensively investigated,such as antibacterial,antifungal,lowering blood sugar,antioxidant,anti-inflammatory,and anticancer effects.This article introduced the bioactivities and applications of cinnamaldehyde and its derivatives in various biomedical fields,aiming to provide the future development and application of cinnamaldehyde.
