On November 10,2023,Zhang Fan,Kang Peng,Li Mingfei,and Cao Liu engaged in an in-depth dialogue about the interactions and intermingling between ancient steppe nomadic empires and Central Plains regimes,as well as the significance of the overseas perspectives in China Studies for understanding this key thread of Chinese history.Their discussion centered on two works Unbounded Loyalty and The Perilous Frontier,featured in the third series of the Selected Editions of the Series of Overseas China Studies,published by Jiangsu People's Publishing House.This dialogue helps us deepen our understanding of the place of steppe nomads in Chinese history and the history of ethnic intermingling in ancient China.
