Research on the Evolution and Cultural Implication of the Dress Patterns of the Empress'Royal Statue in Ming Dynasty
The high concentration of imperial power in Ming Dynasty led empresses to play significant roles in both po-litical and ceremonial aspects,with their portrait attire patterns serving as important symbols of supreme authority and maintenance of ritual order.This study focuses on the attire patterns of empress portraits from the Ming Dynasty,a-dopting a multidisciplinary perspective to explore their evolutionary patterns,aesthetic characteristics and cultural con-notations.By conducting a diachronic examination of key motifs such as dragon and phoenix patterns,entwined branch patterns,and geometric patterns,the study reveals the interactive relationship between pattern evolution and changes in imperial power and the status of the inner palace.Furthermore,the connotations of the motifs are interpre-ted from the perspectives of ritual ethics,religious beliefs and aesthetic preferences,situating them within the political and cultural context of the Ming Dynasty.The findings indicate that the attire patterns of Ming Dynasty empress por-traits embody the overall fashion trends of the era's motifs while also reflecting a unique aura of splendor due to the empress's supreme status,mirroring the political dynamics and social ethos of different periods.The transition of these motifs from simplicity to intricate splendor symbolizes the rise and fall of the Ming Dynasty.
