Identifying the Representations of Terms in the Writings of Laozi and Zhuangzi in Wang Rongpei's and Legge's English Translations
In the English translations of the classical writings of Laozi and Zhuangzi,contributions of Wang Rongpei and those of Legge consequentially emerge as the masterpieces that are respectively oriented towards out-going communicative promotion and academic integration across time and space.This paper explores the parallel examples in the English translations of the two classical translators to analyze the differences regarding the orientations and degrees in conveying the actual meaning of the representative terms.It aims to distinguish between the depth of academic availability of mapping and the broad accessibility of popularizing the mean-ings of these terms of both translators to highlight their unique commitments in presenting the Daoist classics.
