This article conducts a macro-level descriptive study on the English co-translation of contemporary Chinese fictions since the Chinese reform and opening-up in 1978. The study has the four main findings. The co-translated fictions feature a rich and diverse range of themes,with distinctive characteristics in different pe-riods,and primarily focusing on fictions by mainland Chinese authors. The modes of co-translation are flexi-ble and varied,encompassing four distinct approaches. One such mode involves one translator taking on the primary translation work and the other refining and polishing the text. The relationships among co-translators are also complex and diverse,including partnerships like the husband-and-wife team,along with three other types. A portion of co-translated works have achieved good dissemination results and have been accepted by Western readers. To promote the practice of co-translation in the context of Chinese literature "going global",this article suggests increasing the output of projects of co-translation between postgraduate students in transla-tion programs and their supervisors and enhancing the overseas promotion of co-translated works.
