Resonance and Scientific Implications of Renaming Presbyopia
Following the publication of"Contemplating the Renaming of"Presbyopia":Reflections and Suggestions",the discussion on renaming presbyopia has garnered significant international attention, generating valuable responses. These responses reflect a growing global focus on visual health and the dignity of aging populations.Through two rounds of systematic voting,"age-related visual function decline"(near fatigue)emerged as the new recommended terminology. This paper examines the implications of this change, proposing new clinical management models for presbyopia. We emphasize the need for patient-centered,integrated diagnostic and treatment systems, advocate for the adoption of life-course eye health principles, and discuss potential breakthroughs in the research of presbyopia to better address the evolving healthcare needs of an aging society.
