Semi-urbanization of Herdsmen—Based on the Research of Two Typical Communities in Northern Pastoral Area of Xinjiang
The urbanization process of herdsmen has been greatly accelerated in northern pastoral area of Xinjiang which has become a new landscape of contemporary social and cultural changes in recent years.The urbanization of herdsmen can be concluded in two ways.The first way is building new town in new place,and the other way is building new district near economic center.According to our research,herdsmen in city like to choose working economy as the dominant livelihood supplemented by agriculture or animal husbandry.This livelihood strategy can mobilize unban and rural resources to achieve rooting and development in towns and cities.The social relationship of herdsmen has embedded characteristics because of urban-rural interaction.On the one hand,herdsmen in city have been embedded in urban society.On other hand,they still can not separate from rural society.According to the article,herdsmen are and will remain in a state of"semi-urbanization"for a long time,which will have a far-reaching impact on the pastoral areas in promoting rural revitalization,urban-rural integration and development,as well as the promotion of exchanges among various ethnic groups.
