Chronicles and Prints:The Source and Evolution of the Scenic Image of the Wuyi Nine-themed Paintings in the Ming and Qing Dynasties
During the Ming and Qing dynasties,influenced by the travel culture of scholars and the social ethos shaped by Zhu Xi's philosophy,a large number of paintings themed around the Wuyi nine-sceneries emerged,attracting the participation of numerous renowned painters.The landscape images of these Wuyi nine-themed paintings share similar atlases and layouts,predominantly derived from the reference of Wuyi chronicles and related landscape prints.In the misappropriation,stretching and artistic language transformation of the landscape images in the chronicles and prints,they have formed the theme of Wuyi with procedural composition atlases and different styles.Landscape paintings also reflect the overall understanding of the image of Wuyi landscape in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
