Reinterpretation of"Ji Zha's Music Appreciation"——From the Classical Perspective of Chinese Ancient Music Criticism
Ji Zha's comments on the sound,lyrics,and their political implications during the"music appreciation"process sufficiently demonstrate the textual nature of"Ji Zha's Music Appreciation"as a classic in ancient Chinese music criticism.The main content of his music criticism thought includes using political virtue as the basis for criticism,emphasizing the characteristics of sound,and advocating for grand sounds and the beauty of harmony.By analyzing and comparing his music criticism ideas with those of Confucius,Xunzi,and the Book of Rites·Record of Music,and combining the existing textual research,it is possible to determine that"Ji Zha's Music Appreciation"was roughly written during the early Warring States period.The clear differences between"Ji Zha's Music Appreciation"and the music criticism ideas of the pre-Qin Confucianists further highlight its special status and unique value as a critique of ancient Chinese music works.
