Museums and Ekphrasis:A New Approach to Museum Studies
Ekphrasis has been associated with museums throughout its various stages of evolution,in meaning as well as in discursive practice.Early museums provided titles and related information to inspire ekphrastic lyrical creations.Modern museums have further been enhancing the physicality of ekphrasis through museum labels, offering increasingly detailed descriptions and information about their exhibits.Current research on ekphrasis has been entering the realm of cross-media discursive practice, and at the same time, modern museology has gradually become a prominent field of study.Building on the connection between ekphrasis and museums,cross-media ekphrastic practices within the museum's context pave a new way that allows for the integration of museum theory and practice.
