The Extension of Modernity:The Spatiotemporal Characteristics of Digital Media Images
As digital media gradually becomes more popular, its efficiency increases exponentially in comparison to modern mechanical production. With the decline of the'aura',as defined by Walter Benjamin, time within digital media images is significantly compressed, and real spatial distances seem to vanish. The characteristics of digital media, including replicability and real-time presence, suggest a creation method that differs from the past, posing new challenges to the self-discipline established by art.
