In recent years,the U.S.Congress has continued to intervene the Taiwan question with an increasingly aggressive posture,bringing about a series of major changes rarely seen in history in the total number of legislative proposals the number of amendments and bills as well as the number of bills that contain the word"Taiwan,"topics of legislation,rate of pro-gress of legislation,and the number of laws enacted,and etc.By analyzing the timing,top-ics and contents of Taiwan-related legislative proposals initiated by U.S.Congress,it can be seen that strategic competition with China is the key incentive for the US to continuously in-terfere in the Taiwan question by legislative means while the impact of the COVID-19 pan-demic and the escalation of the Ukraine crisis in 2022 are the"twin engines"prompting the US to initiate more and much harmful Taiwan-related legislative cases.The unprecedented negative role the US has been playing will not only damage China's core interests and intensi-fy the confrontation between China and the US in the Taiwan Strait,but also endanger re-gional peace and stability and impact the development of global governance as well as the fu-ture of international order.In order to safeguard its national interests,China should strength-en research on Taiwan-related legislation by U.S.Congress at both the academic and policy levels and consider countermeasures.
