Research on Mechanism of Higher Education Scale,Urbanization and Regional Economic Growth——Based on Provincial Panel Data
The scale of higher education is an important factor for sustained economic growth.Does urbanization play an important mediating role in the relationship between the scale of higher education and regional economic growth?Therefore,based on the provincial panel data of the National Bureau of Statistics from 2004 to 2020,this study analyzes the relationship between the scale of higher education and regional economic growth and identifies the role of urbanization in the relationship,so as to explore the impact mechanism of the scale of higher education and urbanization on urban integration.The results show that:The scale of higher education has a direct effect on regional economic growth;urbanization has a direct effect on regional economic growth;urbanization plays a mediating effect on the scale of higher education in the process of regional economic growth.This paper proves the existence of the mechanism of "scale of higher education-urbanization-regional economic growth" through research.According to the principle of the mechanism,it is suggested to appropriately expand the scale of higher education,accelerate the training of high-level innovative talents,accelerate the construction of new urbanization according to local conditions,promote the upgrading of urban industrial structures,build a modern industrial system,and promote the rapid and healthy development of regional economies.
