Effects of AKR7A5 Gene Knockout on Reproduction of Male Mouse
Testicular and epididymal coefficients, histological morphology, sperm motility and fertility of wild-type and AKR7A5 knockout male mice are analyzed to investigate the effects of AKR7A5 gene on the male mouse repro-duction.The results show that there are no significant difference in testicular and epididymal coefficients and histo-logical morphology between AKR7A5 knockout and wild-type mice.Compared to wild-type mice, the sperm concen-tration,total number of straight linear motility, progressive motility sperm, progressive sperm, average path motile speed and average curve motile speed of AKR7A5 knockout mice decrease significantly(P<0.01),while the im-motile sperm increases significantly(P<0.01).The total litter size of offspring decreases significantly(P<0.01).In conclusion,AKR7A5 gene knockout affects the number and motility of mature sperm and reduces the to-tal litter size of mice.
