Effect of Perfluorobutane Sulfonic Acid on Nitrogen Removal Efficiency of Activated Sludge System
In order to investigate whether the emerging pollutant PFBS affects the performance of the activated sludge nitrification and denitrification system,a short-term batch reactor(SBR)is constructed to investigate the effect of PFBS on this system under different mass concentration conditions. Results indicate that the presence of a certain amount of PFBS can reduce the removal rate of ammonia nitrogen. When the mass concentration of PFBS is less than 250 mg/L,no significant effect is shown on the biological nitrogen removal efficiency, whereas when the mass concentration of PFBS reaches 250 mg/L,the influence degree on the biological nitrogen removal efficiency increases sharply.Presence of PFBS reduces the biological activity of ammonia oxidising bacteria, hindering the conversion of ammonia nitrogen, and ultimately shows a certain negative effect on the the nitrogen removal efficien-cy of the activated sludge system.
