The Adaptive Selection Mechanism of Enterprise Digital Innovation Strategy
Based on the knowledge perspective, this paper explores the adaptive selection mechanism of enterprise digital innovation strategy, aiming to address the issue of incongruity and contradictions among existing conclusions regarding the oriented, emergent, and contingent digital innovation strategies. This study empirically uncovers how the organizational knowledge structure and system of knowing interact with digital innovation strategy to influence performance, integrating these three strategies into a cohesive analytical framework. Our findings, derived from fsQCA,reveal that:(1)From the knowledge perspective, objective knowledge and the system of knowing play pivotal roles in shaping a enterprise's choice of digital innovation strategy.(2)Oriented and emergent strategies demonstrate both complementary and substitutable characteristics, while contingent strategy emerges as a feasible alternative under diverse knowledge conditions.Based on these findings, this paper proposes an adaptive mechanism theory for enterprise digital innovation strategy, advancing a cross-theoretical evolution in digital innovation and adaptive change literature, and offering practical implications for effective management of digital transformation initiatives.
