The Double-edged Sword Effect of Narcissistic Leadership on Organizational Cohesion in Scientific Research Teams
Based on JD-R model and CAPS theory,we collecte data from a three-stage sample of 286 researchers from universities and research institutes to investigate the double-edged sword effect of narcissistic leadership on organizational cohesion of scientific research teams,the mediating effect of work enthusiasm and instant messaging overload,and the moderating effect of implicit leadership-prototype fit.The empirical study finds that work enthusiasm and instant messaging overload play a mediating role in the double-edged impact of narcissistic leadership on organizational cohesion.Implicit leadership-prototype fit moderates the relationship between narcissistic leadership and work enthusiasm,the relationship between narcissistic leadership and instant messaging overload,and the mediating role of work enthusiasm and instant messaging overload in the relationship between narcissistic leadership and organizational cohesion.This study helps scientific research teams to objectively and dialectically view narcissistic leadership,and provides some insights for better exerting its positive effects and avoiding its negative effects.
