Financial Technology,Credit Risk of Commercial Banks and Green Credit
The rapid development of financial technology(fintech)such as big data and cloud computing,has alleviated the information asymmetry between banks and enterprises in bank loans to a certain extent,and has affected the green credit behavior of banks.Based on the panel data of 36 listed banks in China from 2010 to 2021,this paper explores the impact of fintech development level of commercial banks on their green credit business.The findings are as follows:First,fintech development of commercial banks has significantly promoted the expansion of green credit scale.Second,the mechanism test shows that fintech development can improve the willingness and ability of banks to carry out green credit business by reducing the credit risk.Third,the heterogeneity analysis results show that when the financial regulatory policy is stronger,the bank's social responsibility level is higher,and the bank's scale is larger,fintech of commercial banks can better promote the development of green credit business.Last,the applications of fintech in the business and management of commercial banks have significant role in promoting green credit in commercial banks,while in terms of strategy,the above effect is not obvious in the short term.The study enriches the mechanism of fintech influences green credit offerings of commercial banks,provides an empirical basis for promoting the incremental improvement of green credit and the development of China's green economy.
