Effects of Diapause Eeggs on Mosquito Control Based on Wolbachia
Mosquito-borne viruses transmitted by mosquitoes seriously affect human health.More than 700,000 people worldwide die from diseases transmitted by mosquito bites each year.At present, the main method of mosquito control is to spray insecticides, but due to the evolution of mosquito resistance and other rea-sons,it cannot be used continuously for a long time.Mosquito population control based on Wolbachia is a novel and environmentally efficient method,by this method, some special regulation effects of Wolbachia on the host can be used to suppress or replace the external mosquito population. The diapause eggs of Aedes albopictus are considered an important interfering factor in mosquito population control. In this paper,an ordinary differential equation model was established to discuss the effect of mosquito diapausing eggs on Wolbachia-based mosquito vector population control, and the release requirements of cultured mosquito strains needed to ensure population suppression and replacement were given.
