“傲慢”与“偏见”——论《窈窕淑女》中的伦敦方言

摘要
伦敦方言,指英国伦敦劳动阶级,尤其是伦敦东区民众所使用的一种英语方言.尽管作为英语语言的一种变体不断发展,并广为接受和使用,伦敦方言也曾带贬义,代表着受教育水平低的劳动阶级的粗俗下等口音,这突出体现在不少文学作品和电影中.本文从社会语言学视角,选取经典电影《窈窕淑女》中的语例进行分析,探讨这一地域方言及社会方言中的语言变量与其使用者身份之间的关系.
Abstract
Cockney English refers to the English dialect spoken by working class Londoners,particularly those in the East End.Though developed and widely accepted as an alternative form of the English Language,it used to be a deregatory reference for the vulgar and inferior speech of poorly-educated working class,which is evident in many literary works and movies.From a sociolinguistic perspective,examples from the classical movie My Fair Lady are analyzed in this paper to reveal the association between the linguistic variables of this regional and social dialect and the identity of its speakers.
