The English Article System:An Analysis of Learning Difficulty and Teaching Methods
This essay discusses the sources of difficulty for learning English articles and provides teaching approaches for articles learning.The abstract meanings encoded in articles,the non-salient and redundant nature of articles,alongside the negative transfer of L1,hinder the learning of article system.Some teaching methods such as input enhancement,consciousness raising tasks and recast can be employed to draw students' attention to such non-salient grammatical feature and enable them to notice the gap between input and their inaccurate output.
