摘要
语言是文化的载体,同时也是社会活动的产物.作为一种特殊的社会活动,宗教在语言发展中产生深远的影响.本文先讨论语言与宗教的关系,进而探讨宗教对语言产生的影响.重点分析基督教在英语语言和文学发展中发挥的主要作用.《圣经》是基督教的宗教教义,本文以圣经中的例子来阐释宗教在西方文学发展进程中对其发挥的重要作用.
Abstract
Language is the cartier of culture and it is also the product of the social activities.As a unique social activity,religion is the most influential in the language development.This article starts from the relationship between English and religion and at the mean time it will discuss the influence of religion on language.It mainly focuses on the role of Christianity in the history of English language and literacy.The Bible is the religious doctrines of Christianity,which played a significant role on the birth and development of Western culture.The paper also takes many examples to illustrate the influence of the Bible on English language.
