《外婆的日用家当》是Alice Walker的一篇著名的短篇小说,该作品运用了第一人称“不可靠叙事”的叙事手法.纵观近些年来对这部作品的研究,主要集中在对其女性意识,象征手法运用,文化冲突以及人物形象塑造方面,而很少作品从“不可靠叙事”这一角度对此作品对其进行解读.本文从“不可靠叙事”手法在本文中的具体体现和形成原因进行分析;接着介绍了Alice Walker对这一手法的创新,她在文中大量应用意识流和不规范语言,强化“不可靠叙事”这一手法的效果;最后本文指出这一手法的运用使该作品人物塑造更加饱满立体化,主题更加深化的结论,因此是一次成功的运用.
Abstract
Everyday Use by Alice Walker is a short story adopting unreliable narration.Currentstudies on Everyday Use focus on its feminism,symbolism,cultural conflict and image-building,etc.However,few works pay attention to its narrative strategy-unreliable narration.This thesis will be a tentative attempt on the analysis of the unreliable narration used in this work and Alice Walker's successful creation by adopting streams of consciousness and substandard language to strengthen the effect of unreliable narration.In the end,the thesis comes to a conclusion that the use of unreliable narration makes the characters much rounder and the theme much more meaningful and thought-provoking.
