摘要
英国作家简·奥斯丁的小说以爱情为主轴, 生动呈现了十八世纪末期英国乡村中产阶级的生活图景.她在小说中多次提及钢琴、竖琴、音乐会, 许多对话都围绕音乐展开, 特别是小说《爱玛》, 音乐占据大量篇幅.音乐在当时, 具有和今天完全不同的功能和意义:作为女性的必修课, 除了自娱自乐外, 还是展示才华的舞台、社会交往的手段、获得男性关注的工具, 也是大家共同关心的话题.这些音乐元素作为小说情节发展的有效载体和重要推手, 深刻揭露当时根深蒂固的门户观念以及出生和财产对择偶的影响.
Abstract
Jane Austen, a British writer, took love as the main axis, vividly portrayed the life of the middle class of Englandin the late eighteenth Century.At that time, music had completely different functions and meanings:as a topic of daily life and a compulsory musical course for women, it is not only for self entertainment, but also a platform for showing talents and getting men's attention.Jane Austen had mentioned piano, harp and concerts many times in her novels.Many dialogues are focused on music, especially in the novel Emma.These musical elements promoted the plot development of the novel, helped to reveal the deep-rooted viewpoint of birth and property on mate selection.
