The funerary object labeled as"䈕"in the unearthed book of the No.1 Han tomb in Mawangdui,Changsha, should not be read as"簟(diàn)".When interpreted according to its original character,"䈕"refers to a bamboo utensil, which corresponds to the bamboo basket found in the tomb used to hold clay-made banliang(半 两)coins. This kind of bamboo wares was named ti(䈕)because it has two ears for lifting and carrying. The ti(䈕)of the cheng su ti(盛粟䈕)recorded on the bamboo slips of Western Han Dynasty unearthed in Zoumalou,Changsha,is also this kind of objects. The character"缇"in the phrase"缯方缇"recorded on the wooden slips unearthed from the No.6 Western Han tomb in Yinwan,Lianyungang,Jiangsu, should also be interpreted as"䈕(ti)".It refers to bamboo wares used to store the stationery of the tomb owner during their lifetime. In this case, refers to a square-shaped bamboo vessel, distinct from the typical round-shaped"䈕",and it is also covered with a layer of silk fabric, hence it is called"缯方缇(zeng fang ti)".
