Regarding the interpretation of Heheng(和恒)in Luo Gao of Shang Shu(《尚书·洛诰》),there have always been different opinions, and no consensus has been reached.Recently, scholar Xue Peiwu read Heng(恒)as Ji(极)according to the common error in the Chu bamboo slips, and understood it as making people arrive, which is creative. This paper argues that the Ji(极)here should be read as Ji(辑),and its meaning is to pacify people and make them amicable.Heji(和辑)is often seen in handed-down literature, and also be written as Heji(和集).In this paper,we make supplementary arguments from the aspects of phonology and lexical examples.
