Advances in the Association between MRI Manifestations of Periprosthetic Fat Pads and Knee Osteoarthritis
Knee osteoarthritis(KOA)is a common, slowly progressive degenerative disease of the knee joint.Early diagnosis of knee osteoarthritis is important for taking timely intervention and treatment. In recent years, more and more studies have shown that the periprosthetic fat pad plays an important role in the early diagnosis of knee osteoarthritis.Magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)has become a routine means of examining the knee due to its non-invasive and accurate benefits. With excellent soft tissue resolution, this technique has demonstrated its unique advantages in the early stages of osteoarthritis of the knee for subtle changes in the bone and surrounding soft tissue structure, and has a higher sensitivity and specificity for directly observing and quantifying the changes in the periprosthetic fat pads of the knee, which opens up new ways of thinking in the early diagnosis of osteoarthritis of the knee.
