The Application of Transrectal Color Ultrasound Examination in the Diagnosis of Prostate Hyperplasia and Prostate Cancer
Objective:To study the differential diagnostic value of transrectal color ultrasound exami-nation in prostate cancer(PCa)and benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH).Methods:A total of 90 patients with prostate diseases(30 with PCa and 60 with BPH)admitted to Xingyi People's Hospital from Decem-ber 2022 to November 2023 were selected as the experimental group, and 50 healthy volunteers from the same period were recruited as the control group. All participants underwent transrectal color ultrasound examination, and the results were collected and analyzed. Results:The diagnostic accuracy of transrectal color ultrasound examination for BPH was 88.33%,and for PCa was 93.33%.Significant increases were observed in prostate volume, upper and lower diameter, anterior and posterior diameter,as well as left and right diameter in both BPH and PCa patients compared to the control group(P<0.05).However,there were no significant differences in prostate volume and upper and lower diameter between BPH and PCa patients(P>0.05).The anterior-posterior and left-right diameters of BPH were longer than those of PCa(P<0.05).Significant differences in sonographic characteristics including lesion site, echo, morphological regularity, capsular integrity, and symmetry of the outer gland were observed between PCa and BPH pa-tients(P<0.05).Compared with the control group, both PCa and BPH patients showed significant in-creases in resistive index(RI),vessel diameter(Vd),and blood flow velocity(Vs)of the inner and outer glands(P<0.05).However,no significant differences were observed in RI and Vd between the inner and outer glands in BPH patients(P>0.05),while the Vs of the inner glands was significantly higher than that of the outer glands(P<0.05).Additionally,PCa patients exhibited higher RI and Vs values than BPH pa-tients for both inner and outer glands, but lower Vd values(P<0.05).Conclusion:The transrectal color ul-trasound examination, when combined with sonogram and blood flow characteristics, proves beneficial for the early differential diagnosis of prostate cancer and prostatic hyperplasia, making it worthy of wide-spread adoption.
