Exploring the Value of IVUS and OCT in Coronary Vulnerable Plaque Studies
Most acute coronary syndromes(ACS)are caused by coronary thromboembolism due to unstable plaque.Despite timely opening of the causative vessel, vulnerable plaque in unobstructed ves-sels still poses a significant threat to the long-term prognosis of patients. Therefore,it is particularly im-portant to dynamically assess changes in vulnerable plaque in patients with coronary artery disease.Intra-vascular imaging techniques(IVUS and OCT)are widely used in clinical practice because they can visu-ally and accurately display different features of vulnerable plaques. In this article,we compare the advan-tages and disadvantages of IVUS and OCT in the observation of vulnerable plaques in coronary arteries, thereby introducing the further development of endoluminal technology in improving precision medicine and discussing early diagnosis of vulnerable plaques and rational intervention.
