The Diagnostic Value of Applying Superb Microvascular Imaging Technology to Differentiate Benign and Malignant BI-RADS Category 4 Breast Nodules
Objective:To explore the diagnostic value of superb microvascular imaging(SMI)technol-ogy in differentiating benign and malignant breast nodules classified as Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System(BI-RADS)Category 4.Methods:Sixty patients admitted to Shenhe People's Hospital from May 2023 to October 2023 were selected. All patients were diagnosed with BI-RADS Category 4 breast micro-nodule by color Doppler ultrasound before surgery. All patients underwent SMI examination in our hospital, and the pathological biopsy results were used as the gold standard to evaluate the value of color Doppler ultrasound and SMI technology in assisting in the diagnosis of benign and malignant breast nod-ules,especially in evaluating blood flow conditions. The diagnostic value of both methods for benign and malignant breast nodules was analyzed. Results:According to the pathological results, the patients were divided into a benign group of 36 cases and a malignant group of 24 cases.SMI technology adjusted the classification of BI-RADS Category 4 breast micro-nodules,with 24 benign cases downgraded to Cat-egory 3 due to reduced blood flow and 3 cases upgraded to Category 5 due to rich blood flow.Among ma-lignant cases,1 was downgraded to Category 3,and 16 were upgraded to Category 5 based on blood flow assessment.Statistical analysis revealed significant differences in blood flow distribution between benign and malignant lesions detected by ultrasound and SMI(P<0.05).Among 60 patients detected by color Doppler ultrasound,36.67%(6 benign and 16 malignant)were patients with abundant blood flow, while 63.33%(19 benign and 19 malignant)were patients with abundant blood flow in the SMI method, showing a significant increase. From a statistical perspective, the difference was statistically significant(x2=8.533,P=0.003).The sensitivity and specificity of color Doppler technology in distinguishing benign and malig-nant breast nodules are 75.00% and 83.33%,respectively.The sensitivity of SMI is 83.33%,and the specificity is 91.67%.From a statistical perspective, the difference is statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:The application of SMI technology in the differential diagnosis of benign and malignant breast nodules of BI-RADS Category 4 has high value and is worthy of clinical application.
