The application effects of ABC management combined with reflective guidance in teaching geriatric nursing internship
Objective To explore the application effects of ABC management combined with reflective guidance in teaching geriatric nursing internship, and to provide new teaching ideas for nursing education. Methods A total of 102 nursing students who completed internships in the Department of Geriatrics in The First Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Military Medical University from January 2022 to December 2023 were included in this study.According to the teaching method, they were divided into a control group(48 students, traditional routine teaching)and an observation group(54 students,ABC management combined with reflective guidance teaching). The two groups of nursing students were compared for the theoretical and skill operation scores, nursing record writing and comprehensive ability, nurse patient communication awareness, risk prevention awareness, time required for nursing skill improvement,self-learning ability, and the satisfaction of interns with teaching. The t-test and chi-square test were performed using SPSS 22.0.Results The theoretical, skill operation, nursing record writing, and comprehensive ability scores of the observation group[(94.75±6.31),(90.74±5.95),(93.85±6.18),(92.58±6.87)]were higher than those of the control group[(83.54±5.67),(81.22±5.41),(83.98±5.59),(83.06±5.66)],and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The communication awareness and risk prevention awareness scores of the observation group were higher than those of the control group[(96.52±2.47)vs.(86.74±53.54);(90.26±2.88)vs.(81.63±2.11)].The time required for nursing skill improvement was shorter in the observation group than in the control group. The learning motivation, planning and implementation,self-management,interpersonal communication, and total scores of the observation group were higher than those of the control group.Compared with the control group, the observation group showed higher overall satisfaction in terms of teaching content(98.15%vs.79.17%),professional level(98.15%vs.81.25%),patience(100.00%vs.83.33%),and sense of responsibility(96.30%vs.81.25%).Conclusions The teaching mode combining ABC management and reflective guidance has greater advantages and better effects in teaching geriatric nursing. This method is worth further promoting in the hospital.
