A Two-Sample Mendelian Randomization Study of Causal Association Between Cardiovascular Disease and Endome-triosis
Objective:The bidirectional causal relationship between cardiovascular disease(CVD)and endometriosis(EM)was investigated using Mendelian randomization(MR).Methods:Independent single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP)loci strongly associated with CVD were extracted from the data of genome-wide association studies of CVD according to preset thresholds as instrumental variables, and the inverse variance weighted(IVW)method was mainly used to assess the risk of CVD and EM.MR-Egger regression,MR-PRESSO,Cochran'Q test, and the sensitivity analysis of the leave-one-out method were used to assess the causality and to test the reliability of the results. Results:A significant causal relationship between CVD and EM was demonstrated in the MR analysis(OR=1.333,95%CI:1.120~1.587,P=0.001).In reverse MR analysis showed no significant causal relationship between EM and CVD.Conclusion:Genetics predicts that CVD is associated with an elevated risk of developing EM.
