Research Progress on the Correlation Between NF-κB Pathway and Atherosclerosis
Atherosclerosis(AS)is a common chronic inflammatory vascular disease that is one of the most common causes of cardiovascular disease and has been a major contributor to cardiovascular mortality worldwide.A variety of cells and molecules are known to be involved in the formation and development of AS,but the mechanisms are not yet clear.NF-κB,as an inflammatory response regulator, regulates a wide range of biological processes.Recent studies have shown that the NF-κB signaling pathway plays a key role in several stages of AS development, including the inflammatory response(including oxidative stress, endothelial cell injury, smooth muscle proliferation and migration, and many other pathophysiological processes).Based on this, this article reviews the regulatory role and related mechanisms of NF-κB signaling pathway and its inhibitors in the pathogenesis of AS.
