Current Status in Prevention and Treatment of Postoperative Hypoparathyroidism
Hypoparathyroidism(HPT)is usually caused by surgical injuries of thyroid, throat and other head-neck tumors, and it is also a urgent problem in the field of thyroid surgery.Strengthening perioperative management is the key to prevent postoperative hypoparathyroidism. As a traditional treatment,long-term supplementation of calcium and vitamin D may induce complications such as ectopic calcification and decreased renal function, which may lead to loss of working ability in some patients and affect the quality of life and long-term prognosis. In recent years, recombinant human parathyroid polypeptide replacement, parathyroid allotransplantation and stem cell cotransplantation technology may become very promising therapeutic strategies. This article summarizes the causes and inducing factors of HPT after thyroid surgery, and reviews the possible effective prevention methods and treatment strategies found in recent years, aiming to provide new ideas for clinical prevention and treatment of HPT.
