Effect of Early Nursing Intervention on Postoperative Visual Acuity Recovery in Elderly Patients with Cataract
Objective To study the effect of early nursing intervention on postoperative visual acuity recovery in elderly patients with cataract. Methods A total of 435 elderly patients with cataract admitted to Tianjin First Central Hospital from January to December 2021 were included in this study. All patients underwent cataract surgery and were divided into observation group(217 patients)and control group(218 patients)by random number table method. The control group was given routine nursing intervention, and the observation group was given early nursing intervention on the basis of the control group.Preoperative anxiety[Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS)score],postoperative pain[Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)score],postoperative visual acuity recovery effect, postoperative complications, visual function and quality of life(VF-QOL)score were compared between the two groups. Results The preoperative SAS scores of the two groups were lower than those on admission, and the observation group was lower than the control group(P<0.05).The VAS scores of the observation group at 6 and 24 h after operation were lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).The excellent and good rate of visual acuity recovery in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and the incidence of postoperative complications was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).At 3 months after operation, the VF-QOL scores of the two groups increased, and those in the observation group were higher than the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Early nursing intervention can effectively relieve preoperative anxiety and postoperative pain in elderly patients with cataract, promote postoperative visual acuity recovery, reduce the risk of complications, and improve visual function and quality of life.
