Procalcitonin(PCT)is a class of non hormonal active calcitonin precursors that can be released by neuroendocrine cells and form active components under the influence of proteases.Currently,it has been widely used in the evaluation of postoperative infection in clinical surgery.Under normal circumstances,PCT only enters the blood in a small amount.PCT can be used to identify and diagnose the type and degree of infection of pathogenic microorganisms.It can also help doctors better monitor the changes in patients'infection conditions and guide the use of antibiotics.In recent years,more and more surgeons have also used PCT for postoperative infection evaluation.This article will focus on the biological characteristics,methods and application of procalcitonin PCT after surgery,aiming to provide reference for the application of PCT after surgery.
