Bibliometric Analysis of the Application of Procalcitonin in Elderly Patients
Objective To analyze the research status and focus of procalcitonin(PCT)in elderly patients by bibliometrics, and to provide reference for future related research. Methods The literature on PCT and the elderly from the establishment of the database to May 2023 was searched in the PubMed database. Then, through the bibliographic co-occurrence software and statistical software SPSS 22.0,the number of papers published, the time of publication, the country, the journal, and the subject words were statistically analyzed. Results A total of 38 articles related to the research status of PCT and the elderly were retrieved.Relevant article reports began in 2017.The total number of articles published was small, and 15 countries were published in 28 journals.Among them,Chinese scholars and magazines published the most articles.A total of 82 main subject words and sub-subject words were used in the relevant literature. The total frequency was 105,and the frequency ≥2 was intercepted as a high-frequency word,a total of 12 high-frequency words, while the top 5 were PCT,C-reactive protein, urinary tract infection, biomarkers, and bacterial infection.Clustering and multidimensional scaling analysis were performed on 12 high-frequency words, which could be roughly divided into three groups:the application of PCT in elderly patients with pneumonia;the research status of PCT in elderly urinary tract infection;PCT and severe infection in the elderly. Conclusion The research of PCT in elderly patients is in the development stage, which is mainly used in the diagnosis and evaluation of infectious diseases in elderly patients.
