Efficacy of Modified Xiaoxianxiong Decoction in the Treatment of Obese Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and its Effect on Insulin Resistance
Objective To study the clinical efficacy of modified Xiaoxianxiong decoction in the treatment of obese type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)and its effect on insulin resistance.Methods A total of 65 obese T2DM patients admitted to Yanshan County Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from May 2022 to May 2023 were divided into control group(32 patients)and observation group(33 patients)by random number table method.The control group was treated with conventional western medicine,and the observation group was treated with modified Xiaoxianxiong decoction on the basis of the control group.The clinical efficacy,blood glucose index[fasting blood glucose(FBG),postprandial 2 h blood glucose(PBG),glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c)],TCM symptom score,islet function[fasting insulin(FINS),insulin resistance index(HOMA-IR)],body mass index(BMI)and waist-to-hip ratio were compared between the two groups.Results The total effective rate of treatment in the observation group was 96.97％,which was higher than 84.38％in the control group(P＜0.05).After treatment,FBG,PBG and HbA1c in the two groups were lower than those before treatment,and FBG,PBG and HbA1c in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05).After treatment,the scores of TCM symptoms(thirst and polydipsia,hunger and polyphagia,abdominal distension and fullness)in the two groups were lower than those before treatment,and the scores of TCM symptoms(thirst and polydipsia,hunger and polyphagia,abdominal distension and fullness)in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05).After treatment,FINS in the two groups was higher than that before treatment,HOMA-IR was lower than that before treatment,and FINS in the observation group was higher than that in the control group,HOMA-IR was lower than that in the control group(P＜0.05).The BMI and waist-to-hip ratio of the two groups after treatment were smaller than those before treatment,and the BMI and waist-hip ratio of the observation group were smaller than those of the control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion Modified Xiaoxianxiong decoction is effective in the treatment of obese T2DM,which can reduce the blood glucose level,improve their TCM symptoms and islet function,and is conducive to the decline of BMI and waist-to-hip ratio.
