Impact of Urban and Rural Medical Insurance Integration on the Medical Expenses of Middle-aged and Elderly People with Chronic Diseases in Rural Areas
Objective To analyze the impact of urban and rural medical insurance integration on the medical expenses of middle-aged and elderly people with chronic diseases in rural areas.Methods A total of 213 rural middle-aged and elderly people with chronic diseases who carried out the urban and rural medical insurance integration in our hospital from July to December 2022 were selected as the post-implementation group,and 212 rural middle-aged and elderly people with chronic diseases who were diagnosed and treated in our hospital from January to June 2022 were selected as the pre-implementation group.The medical service needs(number of hospitalizations,hospitalization time,rate of non-hospitalization due to economy,rate of outpatient visits),medical expenses(total outpatient expenses,total inpatient expenses,total outpatient out-of-pocket expenses,total inpatient out-of-pocket expenses),per capita medical expenses and hospitalization time of rural middle-aged and elderly people with chronic diseases were compared before and after the integration of urban and rural medical insurance.Results The number of hospitalizations,hospitalization time,rate of non-hospitalization due to economic reasons,and rate of outpatient visits in the post-implementation group were better than those in the pre-implementation group(P<0.05);the total outpatient expenses and total hospitalization expenses in the post-implementation group were higher than those in the pre-implementation group,and the total outpatient expenses and total hospitalization expenses were lower than those in the pre-implementation group(P<0.05);the difference effect values of per capita medical expenses and hospitalization time of rural middle-aged and elderly people with chronic diseases in the post-implementation group were higher than those in the pre-implementation group(P<0.05).Conclusion Urban and rural medical insurance integration has a certain impact on the medical expenses of rural middle-aged and elderly people with chronic diseases.It can increase the medical service demand of rural middle-aged and elderly people with chronic diseases,increase the medical expenses,reduce the out-of-pocket medical expenses of rural middle-aged and elderly people with chronic diseases,and reduce the economic burden of rural middle-aged and elderly people with chronic diseases to a certain extent.
