Efficacy of Pterygium Excision Combined with Autologous Limbal Stem Cell Transplantation in the Treatment of Pterygium
Objective To observe the efficacy of pterygium excision combined with autologous limbal stem cell transplantation in the treatment of pterygium.Methods From January 2020 to January 2023,60 patients with pterygium diagnosed and treated in Hukou County People's Hospital were selected as the research objects.They were divided into control group(n=30)and observation group(n=30)by random number table method.The control group was treated with pterygium excision,and the observation group was treated with pterygium excision combined with autologous limbal stem cell transplantation.The visual acuity,corneal astigmatism,subjective symptom score,tear film function index[tear film rupture time(BUT)and corneal fluorescein staining(CFS)score],complication rate and recurrence rate were compared between the two groups.Results The postoperative visual acuity of the two groups was greater than that before operation,the corneal astigmatism was smaller than that before operation,and the visual acuity of the observation group was greater than that of the control group,the corneal astigmatism was smaller than that of the control group(P<0.05).The score of subjective symptom in the observation group was lower than that in the control group at 3 and 6 days after operation(P<0.05).The BUT of the two groups after operation was larger than that before operation,the CFS was smaller than that before operation,and the BUT of the observation group was larger than that of the control group,the CFS was smaller than that of the control group(P<0.05).The incidence of complications in the observation group was 6.67%,which was lower than 20.00%in the control group(P<0.05).The recurrence rate of the observation group was 3.33%,which was lower than 13.33%of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Pterygium excision combined with autologous limbal stem cell transplantation has a definite effect in the treatment of pterygium,which can effectively improve tear film stability and tear film function,promote visual acuity improvement,reduce corneal astigmatism,and effectively reduce the incidence of complications and recurrence rate.
