A Powerful Country in Higher Education:The Mission and Responsibility of Theoretical Research on Higher Education
Higher education is decisive to the construction of a modern powerful country;therefore,a powerful country in higher education must take the lead and promote the construction of modern powerful country.Whether higher education is an important part of the national cause or an activity aimed at person-nel training and knowledge innovation,it must keep pace with the times under the guidance of rationality,which gives the theoretical research of higher education an inescapable mission and responsibility.On the basis of the qualitative and quantitative interpretation of the concept of a powerful country in higher educa-tion,the urgency of the construction of a powerful country in higher education was discussed from three as-pects:serving the needs of national strategic development,coping with the challenges of scientific and tech-nological revolution and the needs of the world geopolitical changes.The importance of theoretical research on higher education in the construction of a strong higher education country was concluded from two as-pects:the historical logic and practical logic of the development of higher education.It was proposed that the construction of a powerful higher education country should not only answer common questions such as rational understanding and basic laws required for construction,but also answer individual questions such as Chinese characteristics,serving national strategies and practical paths,as well as theoretical and practical issues such as the timeliness of the construction process of a powerful higher education country and internationaliza-tion based on local foundations.As the main carrier to publish the research results of higher education theo-ry,the journal of higher education theory not only has the basic function of reflecting the research results of higher education theory,but also must play a positive role in leading the research of higher education theo-ry,especially leading the theoretical research of building a powerful country in higher education.Based on the need of leading the theoretical research of powerful higher education country,a theoretical research framework of a powerful country in higher education was constructed,which includes the value orientation research reflecting the top-level design of the construction of higher education powerful country,the major theme research reflecting the theoretical field of the construction of higher education powerful country,and the specific topic research reflecting the practical needs of the construction of higher education powerful country.
