Spectrum analysis of military personnel in orthopedic outpatient clinics
Objective To investigate and analyze the epidemiological characteristics of soldiers in the orthopedic outpatient department of a military hospital.Methods The data of military patients attending orthopedic outpatient service during 2020-2022 were obtained from the medical information management system of a military hospital.Name,gender,age,military branch,occupation,outpatient diagnosis,as well as the location and type of injury were collected,classified and statistically analyzed.Results A total of 17 968 soldiers were treated in the orthopedic outpatient department in 3 years,accounting for 9.88%of the total;among them,those who came to the clinic due to training injuries accounted for 97.89%of the total number of soldiers in the orthopedic outpatient clinic.Among different age,ranks and branches of the military,21-25 year-old(49.97%),non-commissioned officers(53.63%)and the army(50.85%)have a greater share than others.The injuries of middle and lower limbs and lower back accounted for 43.26%and 37.63%respectively.According to injury type,chronic muscle strain(27.12%),meniscus/cartilage injury(13.47%)accounted for the highest proportion.According to the time analysis,the number of med-ical visits from June to August each year were higher than other months.Conclusion There are more soldiers in orthopedic clinic,and the characteristics and reasons should be further explored.Appro-priate preventive strategies should be strengthened accordingly.
