Advance in the application of robotic surgical system in transanal endoscopic surgery
In recent years, robotic surgical systems have become increasingly sophisticated in both domestic and international transanal endoscopic surgical systems, and are considered to be a valuable alternative platform for endoscope-assisted minimally inva-sive transanal surgery, with the advantages of highly ergonomic mechanics,3D high-definition field of view,Endowrist™ technology that allows for 7-degree-of-freedom wrist rotation, and tremor-elimination capabilities. However, robotic surgical systems also suffer from controversies such as long operative times, high costs, and lack of long-term evidence-based medical data.Current studies have reported that various novel robotic-assisted transanal minimally invasive surgeries have been successfully used for local excision of complex rectal tumors, transanal total rectal mesentery resection, and rectal fistula repair. In the future, technological updates of ro-botic surgical systems will greatly expand the scope of transanal endoscopic surgical systems. This article mainly reviews the develop-ment of robot-assisted transanal minimally invasive surgery, its application progress at home and abroad,as well as the controversial issues that exist.
