Application progress of multiplex immunofluorescence technology in tumor angiogenesis research
The growth and metastasis of tumor depend on host-derived neovascularization.During this process,a continuous exchange occurs between various types of cells, including tumor cells, endothelial cells, pericytes, fibroblasts, and immune cells, through a combination of direct contact and soluble factors, ultimately promotes tumor angiogenesis.Traditional immunohistochemical staining methods are limited to the detection of a single marker in each tissue section, while multiplex immunofluorescence technology can achieve simultaneous staining of up to 6 to 8 single targets in the same tissue section, which is suitable for revealing the complex cell composition, functional status of various cell types and cell-cell interactions during tumor angiogenesis. This paper mainly re-viewed the specific application of multiplex immunofluorescence technology in tumor angiogenesis research, including evaluating the characteristics and mechanisms of tumor angiogenesis, identifying specific cell subsets associated with tumor angiogenesis, measuring and exploring the mechanisms of tumor metastasis microenvironment, tumor vascular co-option,and tumor vascular normalization,as well as promoting interaction research between tumor angiogenesis and tumor immunity.
