Objective:To analyze the employment preferences of disease control and prevention institutions among PhD candi-dates of public health related majors,and to provide reference for the construction and development of the talent pool of China's dis-ease prevention and control system.Methods:A survey questionnaire was designed using discrete choice experiment to investigate PhD candidates enrolled in public health related majors.The conditional logit model was used to analyze the relationship between the preferences of PhD candidates in public health related specialties for seven job attributes and whether to choose disease control and prevention institutions for employment in the future.Results:The effects of the seven job attributes included on the job prefer-ences among PhD candidates of public health related majors were statistically significant(P<0.05),monthly income had an impor-tant effect on the employment preferences of disease control and prevention institutions of PhD candidates,non-economic factors were more important to PhD candidates in terms of work location as well as housing,and there were differences in the job prefer-ences of PhD candidates willing and unwilling to choose disease control and prevention institutions in the future.PhD candidates who were willing to choose disease control and prevention institutions paid more attention to housing and educational conditions of children(P<0.05).Conclusion:The choice of employment for disease control and prevention institutions among PhD candidates of public health related majors is mainly affected by monthly income,work location and housing.Incentives or policy packages that provide housing and human resource quota can be developed,and non-economic incentives such as improved salary system reform and shorter promotion years can be combined to promote PhD candidates to choose employment in disease control and prevention in-stitutions and reduce the brain drain of public health professionals.
