Objective:To examine the status quo and associated influencing factors of mental health literacy among prisoners during hospitalization in a prison hospital of Jiangsu Province,so as to provide reference for improving mental health education poli-cy in prisons.Methods:Convenience sampling was adopted to select inpatients from a prison hospital from April 1 to September 30,2022 as research participants,and structured questionnaire was used for data evaluation.Results:A total of 877 eligible partic-ipants were included.The overall score of mental health literacy among the interviewees was 113.51±19.05,and 54(6.2%)partic-ipants reached the overall standard.Specifically,the total score of knowledge judgment section was 58.89±14.53,and the rate of participants reaching the standard was 9.0%,the total score of self-assessment section was 26.72±3.57,and the rate of participants reaching the standard was 81.8%,the total score of case analysis section was 27.91±6.50,and the rate of participants reaching the standard was 51.3%.Results from multiple linear regression showed that the protective factors of mental health literacy among pris-oners included illness being in the convalescent stage(β=4.50),higher education(β=4.45-8.56),better self-rated health(β=5.71-10.85),higher self-rated life satisfaction(β=5.38-9.27)and frequent family visits(β=5.32).Conclusion:The overall score of mental health literacy level among prisoners in hospital is low,and mental health literacy level is closely associated with de-mographic characteristics,health status,and family and social environment.
