Objective:To analyze the impact of the development of the digital economy on healthcare service levels in 31 provinces in China, and to provide policy recommendations for leveraging the digital economy in the public health sector. Methods:Using panel data from 2014 to 2021,entropy method was employed to construct indices for the development of the digital economy and healthcare service levels.A two-way fixed effects model was used to analyze the impact of the development of the dig-ital economy on healthcare services, and regional heterogeneity was explored. The threshold effect of the digital economy was veri-fied using a threshold regression model. Results:The the development of digital economy has a significant positive impact on healthcare service levels(P<0.01).Further seemingly unrelated regression(SUR)tests indicate that the positive impact of the de-velopment of the digital economy on healthcare services is stronger in less developed regions than in developed regions(P<0.01).The threshold effect results show that there is a single threshold effect(threshold value of 0.219)in the digital economy's impact on healthcare services;when the digital economy surpasses this threshold, its promotion effect on healthcare services becomes signifi-cant(P<0.05).Conclusion:The digital economy significantly promotes the development of healthcare services after reaching a certain level, with a more pronounced effect in less developed regions. It is recommended that local governments accelerate the con-struction of digital economy infrastructure, focus on balanced regional digital economy development, and fully leverage the digital economy's potential to enhance healthcare service levels.
