Objective:To analyze the influence mechanism of the actual reimbursement ratio of basic medical insurance on the non-medical consumption expenditure of elderly households in China,so as to provide reference for further improving China's basic medical insurance system and developing the silver economy. Methods:Based on the data of China family panel survey in 2020,the multiple linear regression model was used to analyze the impact of the actual reimbursement ratio of basic medical insurance on the annual non-medical consumption expenditure and the relative deprivation degree of household consumption of the elderly in China, and the mediating effect model and group regression were used to explore the potential mechanism and heterogeneity of the impact. Results:When the actual reimbursement ratio of the basic medical insurance for the elderly in China increases by 1%,the household expenditure on non-medical consumption will increase significantly by 0.148%(β=0.148,P<0.01),which can allevi-ate the relative consumption deprivation level of the elderly family(β=-0.045,P<0.01).Conclusion:The increase in the actual reimbursement ratio of basic medical insurance for the elderly can promote the non-medical consumption expenditure of the elderly families in China, which is helpful to alleviate the relative deprivation level of consumption and reduce its inequality. In the future,we should continue to optimize the multi-financing structure of balanced responsibility, ensure financial investment and financial subsidies for basic medical insurance, and appropriately improve the level of basic medical insurance protection,so as to improve the consumption capacity of residents and enhance the well-being of people's livelihood.
